  2. Whenever i take my dog for a walk, he gets distracted very easily. When there are dogs, people, anything. I've been working on a "focus" command but i may have to take a step back and try your method and see how it works, i want to make our walks more enjoyable for both of us and having Zeus pay attention to me when there are people and dogs around would be amazing!

  4. Although these are all great training ideas the biggest problem I have is a puppy that's really not interested in treats.

  6. Been trying to get dog to focus on us and stop pulling for months. But now he's started having a problem with whining and tantrums when he doesn't get a reward he wants (to go outside again, to be fed, to get attention) after starting reward based training.

Tried the method in this video today to work on attention. I let him roam around like in the video, but he barely paid attention. Instead, after I guess he got bored, he'd just started whining with intermittent tantrum-howling. The only times he'd give me his attention was while he was howling. I don't want to encourage the whining, but it's the only time he'd look at me. I'm worried about him associating the treat with the whining and not the looking. What do I do? Advice for a dog that whines for perceived rewards?

  7. I have a rescue dog that is TERRIBLE at paying attention while we're out and walking around, but in the house he's really attentive and willing to come/sit/lie down/whatever. I'll try this method and see if it helps. We've used something similar before, where I'd suddenly stop while we're walking and he has to "ask" to keep going by getting eye contact. Maybe that'll help him with this.
