  3. Great videos! I love how you account for all of the possibilities that can possibly occur during training, as less experienced folks (like myself) often substitute incorrect training to supplement what we don't know.

  4. Instead of sitting to a lure treat, my dog backs up and gets hyper about the treat. I cant seems to make her sit with a treat. What can I do? She is also very resistant if I try to push her bottom to the ground.

  7. do you find that clicking or using a word is more successful? I'm just starting to look to properly train my dog and she doesnt like the sound of clicking fingers so I was worried the clicker would evoke a negative response.

  30. My puppy won't get up for distractions (even throwing her favourite toy across the room), but she follows me around (sit-sneaking) when I turn and the alike. I know she hasn't grasped the concept yet – she just wants all the chicken. I guess it's a good start %)

  35. my border collie is 8 months old and loves to play. when i take him on walks he will sit-wait and down-wait but if he sees a cow, cat or decides it is time to get up he does and and when i try to grab him he tries to play keep away and thinks it is a game. he is really good at heeling and sitting and is trained to hand cues for down. i just do not know what to do. should i take things slower or play with him more? we usually walk down the road a mile or so every morning and i make him sit-wait, down-wait, heel and general obedience stuff a few times.whenever i turn around he thinks he has to follow me. he is super smart and knows when he is disobeying but i do not know what i am doing wrong. probably a lot since i am young and training a dog for the first time, no experience and stuff. i would like someone to talk to me about this stuff tho that would be great!

  37. I tried to train my dog for the first time, and it's not working. basically, I did the first step and my dog followed to a sit position, I kept feeding him. I want him to get used to it again, so I made him stood up and I repeated the action, he seemed to understand it. But, when I tried without food, he got confusing, so I tried with the food again, it worked. the most important thing is he can stay sit there for a bit then I feed him again, but after 15 mins or so, he cant progress to the second step. worse, when I do take out the food and try again, he looked at me and knew the trick but he RAN away. then come back and play with me, however when I made the sit gesture, he ran around the kitchen (his normal behavior when I come closer to him) and lied down under the chair. so I just give him a rest.
