  4. Hi Melissa. Hazel is sleeping so peacefully only waking up every now and then to the sound of your voice. I hope that the service dog training works out for you and her. Just wondering if you tried finding training that is closer to your home instead of driving to and from the country? Anyway. Take it easy πŸ™‚

  5. You don't need to explain what she is for, I'm sure you know what is best for you and that's all that matters. And hazel will be well behaved which is the main thing people want, it's the animals that are not well behaved that cause issues. So you and hazel should be fine with everyone! Who could resist that widdle faaaaace! πŸ’•

  6. You don't have to explain your need for a service dog. If you feel they help you, they help you. That's all that matters. The only issue are people who abuse the "service dog" moniker and not train it. If the dog is trained, there is no problem because it won't bother anyone else.

  8. I really hope u just said it wrong when u said "She might be working on individual stuff so she might not have alot of play time" again shes a puppy and she NEEDS alot of play time! What will give her fears is if shes always told she can't play because she will translate that too dogs are scary or she will burn out and want to be a dog to play instead! Shes only a pup. Would u expect a 1 year old child to not have alot of play time because they have a job to do or be learning to do? NO! Even when Children start school its all socializing and learning how to make friends and being a child! Also she will learn from other dogs, dog body language and even things like not to be mouthy. Because when a dog bites hard the other dog eaither yelps or bites back (not to really hurt them, just to show how it hurts but not to cause damage ) I understand u wanting her at this point, to play with trusted dogs. Ones with vaccines and not agressive. But when u find her group, she should be socializing not only once a week, but at LEAST twice a week (Like Tuesdays and Thursdays) but because she needs to not only learn dog and puppy things, but to learn other dogs are okay and not scary! And to overall be a PUPPY and happy! No matter training socializing is a HUGE part! But I would reccomend somthing like pet co or pet smart. I know once or twice a week here anyway, they have puppy play time. They 1st do an evaluation on the dog to ensure its not agressive and they also check to make sure they have been vaccinated. But they also put pups together who are around the same size and temperament. Also some group training trainers also have the same kind of thing. So i would check into things like that. But I've said it once and I'll say it again. She needs to be a puppy! I can already tell in these clips ur moving her way to fast. She needs to be focused on growing and learning to be a dog before a vest being thrown on her. She also should know heel and basic commands before being thrown in situations shes too young for. Because even tho shes great now, being put in things too young can cause fears even if not in the moment. Also take her to pet places to work before PA. Like pet stores, home depot, etc. But because that way she can practice against distractions, including dogs, without being a issue for other teams. But even if your state allows a SDiT, u still need to make sure she's ready and not going to interfere with other teams or put a bad reputation on all SD teams. So still start at pet places before anywhere PA. And she should have LOADS of playtime despite training! Playtime with dogs, ppl, you, etc. More playtime then work time at that age! Shes only a puppy! And limiting playtime with dogs to every other week, because of training, is what washes out dogs, and in my experience makes Goldendoodles neurotic because instead of ignoreing dogs they crave playing with them, so they try and see any dog they can or become fearful all together. Once my dog got to play on a DAILY (and if im not up to it, I muster it up at least 3 times a week no matter my health) but play with other dogs, but thats when he acually ignored them because he no longer craved puppy play and learend dogs are nothing to be excited about because he gets loads of play time! So no matter her training routine, plenty of playtime with dogs and ppl, should be part of it! Its very important for her happiness in the long run and her training! So I hope u just stated that wrong. That she'll be working on stuff so might not get much playtime.

  9. Melissa… You don't need to tell people Why you want a service dog, don't do it if you're not 200% ready… And your therapist will tell you that.

The Internet can be a cruel place for the comments section,.

  10. Hi Melissa. Always remember….you don’t owe anyone an explanation about why you are getting a service dog. There are many invisible disabilities and people who’ve never experienced them can be quite insensitive and judgmental. You have the right to keep any information private. I agree with you that you would get a lot of support from your followers but I also know that even a few critical comments can have a disproportionately large negative impact. Don’t feel pressured to share anything that you’re not comfortable sharing.
