  5. May I please use a clip of this video for a documentary I am making on the relationship between humans and animals for my senior project? I would credit you and have your name in the film. I just think more people should know about service dogs and how they help.

  6. It's so awesome dogs can be trained for this, i don't think people who do the have PTSD can imagine how much of a help something like this can be. I'm trying to find out but I'm pretty sure in the UK we are not allowed service dogs for PTSD, I've contacted a few groups but they all are for armed forces and emergency services staff. I don't/can't leave the house alone. I mean i have gone through phases were it's been better and I've managed but I hit a burn out because it's fuelled on adrenaline and i get retriggered each time. I've lost most of my jobs because of it and have failed to become self employed also because i got triggered just going for mentor meetings. I'm doing my degree at home but have to do the exam at a centre and after a 3 years of studying I'm worried now I'll fail everything because of this, i do wonder if dogs are allowed in exams i can see that helping with exam stress on top of PTSD stress, my triggers are just other people in general but especially in closed rooms were i have to remain somewhere with no freedom to get out if i start having an attack.

  8. I have severe anxiety and depression and unfortunately I cannot get a Psychiatric service dog because the UK only alllows service dogs for blind, deaf, autistic and I'm sure many other physical disabilities and it just annoys me so much that I can't calm down with a dog beside me which knows what I'm going through because I can't get one according to the law. I think the UK need to get there stuff together when it comes to mental disabilities because they don't care…Anyone know if I can get a service dog or not because I don't know if I am correct with the UK not allowing you to have a Psychiatric service dog. 🙂 Please don't get angry…

  9. Isn't Levi technically an ESA (emotional support animal) rather than a service dog because he doesn't help with mobility tasks, only the emotional side of things? ESAs have different, lesser rights than SDs so that's why I'm curious. I've got friends who are in wheelchairs who have actual service dogs that open doors, pick things up, carry things etc, so I'm wondering why he's classified as a service dog

  15. I think I have ptsd but I'm too scared to go to my Dr about it because I don't want them to just throw drugs at me since that seems to be the way Dr's treat emotional issues nowadays. I know why I have the issues I have, and I am getting better at managing my outbursts but the flash backs, anxiety and depression cripple me a lot. and my fear of strangers, especially men that I don't know being close to me makes it nearly impossible to be relaxed in a public setting by myself. Does anyone know if a counsellor or some one like that could help diagnose me? I'm just scared of having to be medicated, I don't do well when I feel trapped and medicine that I have to take all of the time feels like a cage.
I've been thinking about the possibility of a service dog, I love dogs. I have one already but she would not be suitable for a service dog.

  16. DEEP PRESSURE THERAPY.  HUGE FOR PTSD!!  HELPS STOPPING DISSOCIATION!  ALSO HELPS ANXIETY A TON AS WELL!  MY SERVICE DOG IN TRAINING ALSO DOES NIGHTMARE WAKING AND DOES DPT AUTOMATICALLY AFTERWARDS WHICH HELPS ME TO CALM AND GO BACK TO SLEEP.  DPT IS AMAZING HELP AND HAVING A BIGGER BREED IT HELPS AS WELL AS ITS PRESSURE BEING PLACED IN CERTIAN AREAS OF YOUR LAP AND FOR ME AGAINST MY CHEST!

  17. I have a service dog that assists me with PTSD as well as anxiety disorder, crowd panic, panic attacks etc, etc. Unfortunately, I find that having her with me actually draws people to me asking questions about me and my dog. This is EXTREMELY annoying and almost defeats the purpose of having her and being able to go out in public with her. I wish people would just leave us alone so we can do my errands etc. without me being put in uncomfortable situations. Some people even ask me what my disability is. I can't imagine being so intrusive and rude to anyone. Sometimes I feel like I am running a petting zoo. Some days I just have to give up and go home. I wish everyone could see your video so they could understand our "invisible" disability and how to help by just leaving us be. thanks for your video and happy retirement to your Levi, best of luck with your new companion.

  20. I have suffered some causes of PTSD, for example rape, a physical abuse relationship, sexual abuse and child abuse/ neglect. I show majority of the symptoms of PTSD. I brought it up to my doctors and ignored everything I told them. I would like a diagnosis because its getting to the point where I never go out, spend time with my friends or partner and stay in bed all day, every day. I struggle to sleep due to having nightmares every night and I suffer with fits/seizures when I have a nightmare. What advice can you give me to be diagnosed?

  21. I was diagnosed with acute anxiety with symptoms of ptsd (such as flashbacks, angry outbursts, panic attacks, and severe agoraphobia) after being removed from a situation with a physically abusive parent last year. I've had the disorder for years prior to diagnosis, due to the situation being long lasting and the fact I never told anybody about what was going on. I'm currently 14, and I've made NO progress despite weekly visits to the psychiatrist and therapists and such. I've tried medications, but they work adversely with my other meds and they tend to make me super unstable (with things such as manic episodes, insomnia, worsening in short term memory, etc.) I've brought up the notion of a service dog to my father (my only legal guardian at this point) and he was against it. I've discussed the severity of my condition with him before, but he strongly believes that I just "need more time." I literally can't go to school without getting into some kind of fight or just breaking down into tears every time a female student or faculty member approaches me. No treatment methods, coping mechanisms, or medications are helping me.
Is there any way to get a service dog under these conditions? My dad doesn't know how bad this is because I'm away from him all day and he blames the frequent calls from the school on me being "a rebellious teenager" when I know that's not the case. It seems that he's in denial despite the facts given to him by me, other family members, and teachers. What do you say to someone to portray how life-inhibiting this REALLY is?

  24. I dont even know what to think watching this because a lot of the stuff you say, is what I feel. I never leave my bed, I am terrified to go outside because I am so scared to be around people. The only time I ever go anywhere is when I have someone to go with me or I am to scared to go alone, I feel like im going to be attacked or something bad is going to happen. I always had the thought of service dog in my head but I thought since I wasnt in war or physically handicapped I couldnt get one, I really want to talk to my therapist about one but I have no idea how to go about getting a service dog or if my family will even let me. This is a great video!
