  1. I didn't watch the whole vid but a fare chunk to see the dog not get any praise for each run. I feel for the dog.

  2. @bullynhoney um, i come from a farming family in aus, all of our dogs are trained for hand signals, there is a limit to how far a dog can hear from if there is alot of background noise like a thousand head of sheep or cattle bellowing and walking/trotting to try n hear over. never assume others are idiots mate, its you that comes off looking like a jackass

  3. @wolfydan121 bud I believe fred knows a little more than some hand signals dog hearing is very good.

  4. you should also look into using hand/arm signals, as using arm movements is effective long distance. farmers frequently use that here, where livestock make whistles/commands difficult to hear.

  5. I know you use the mat for the place command (we've done that through your basic classes), but in this case, is the mat as a transitional step to teaching the dog how to cast? In other words, the next step would be you sending the dog to make the retrieve, stopping her on the mat, then giving her a back cast to the bumper?
