My respond to to a pretty popular viewer issue:

Curbing play-biting/mouthing/nipping is the best precedence for new pet mom and dad. Consistency & a favourable, mild technique allows us to speedily & effectively teach a pet to make the appropriate decisions. The emphasis is on instructing the pet the appropriate behaviors, instead of correcting them for generating realistic mistakes. Remember that puppies like to interact with their human(s) in all kinds of strategies, and study from each and every conversation that we have with them.

As an option to making use of aversive punishment, this multi-faceted technique allows us to creatively join with our canines by using favourable reinforcement and harnessing a marriage that is centered on belief & respect.

If you like this video, please share it with any person that you consider could possibly find it valuable. If you have any other pet concerns/concerns, come to feel totally free to leave them in the remarks & I will handle them in the next pet training video!

  2. If you got your puppy before 12 weeks, what do you expect! Puppies learn from their litter mates between 8 and 12 weeks on how hard they can bite. This is a crucial time for puppies. Put a deposit down but don't take the puppy away from the mother before 12 wekks.

  10. i got a dog not sensation as a puppy and lots to bite, nip… She is slowly learning but is a must for large dog. This puppy really goes after the hands! och……. i am also making feeding her eat dinner (claimer then) by hand, piece by piece because first one distracting to something else, does NOT work with this puppy… i have tried all kinds of things but hardly anything works. Although some might think a fly swatter is bad, they are afraid of that sound…….. it works pretty good. lol but i always reward for good with my hands when he backs down.. its worked with nothing else has! now i can feed him slowly and carefully by hand and introduced him to clicker. the time outs he can not connect to for biting and snapping. i mean NOTHING else worked. this worked for mine well.

  25. Please help. I dont want to give up on my puppy because of its problem with agressive playing. Let me start from the beginning. I have a 2 month shihpoo mix. It can out of the blue, start agressively biting you with its sharp teeth. He also bites when seeing my family because he gets so excited to see them and I bet will bite new people like my sister's friends. Ive tried a technique such as a timeout in my closet. I am not sure if this "corrective behavior" will work because i think it will make him "play" harder and think im trying to play with him. Please help.

  27. my 2 month old rottie is particularly very good with learning whatever I teach her and she is pretty impressive with it. biting is the only thing that I am not able to work with her. I've always had dogs before; the intensity was much lower. the ouch method is taken as an invitation to bite even harder. since she is very young; I don't want to be harsh or impatient with her. but damn it's so painful to be bitten by a rottie!
