  1. Hi Zak , love the videos! I'm wondering where you recommend we keep the puppies in the first couple days after they come home (especially at night), if they don't get used to the crate immediately?

  4. I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT, whenever I leave him at home he pees in the house: on the carpet, on the bed, on flowers..
My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? THANK YOU!!!!

  23. Never stick your dog's nose in their own poop. The only thing they would learn from it would be to eat their poop or another dog's poop.

Other times are walking in and then taking them out in the back it doesn't go come straight in the house the minute I'm not looking patties in the corner. I don't know what to do next?

  28. Say No to dog cages (crates) advising people that they can leave a dog 6 hours in a cage is too much time. Cages don't allow dogs to move or exercise. It is much better to teach a dog how to be comfortable in the whole house. Even though it might have a few issues at least it has freedom to run around. Crates is a nice name for CAGE. It's better to not get a dog if someone doesn't have time for it everyday

  31. So if you bring home a new puppy ( 8 weeks ) and you can't get them comfortable with crate in a day or two, where to you put them at bed time ? Or when you go to work for four hours ?

  33. Yes he/she will get better after a few days and make sure you hang your dog leash on the dog kennel it well be easier to leave it there then not getting lost

  35. Hi Zak! my 2 year old retriever is crate trained and loves hi "bed". we would like to transition out of his crate due to the space it takes up. For the past month we gave left the door open all them time as He doesn't need to be confined when we are not home. I took down his crate and left the soft bed I. the same spot, however he seems upset and is scared to lay on the bed. what do I do?

  36. This video is helpful. My puppy is 2 1/2 months old. We are still in the process of potty training. The issue is we live in an apartment and he refuses to go potty outside instead he'll potty at the balcony which is the first step( I'm happy), but he still does have accidents inside the house. It sure takes a lot of patience. Not sure how to make him potty outside on the grass.

  37. i did rub my labs nose in it and threw him outside and he never ever pottied in the house again. so it does work sometimes. if it don't work the first time then don't do it again. but if you have a really smart dog it will work the first time. i have a puppy now that it's not working with so i just take him out and then i try to crate him and see if that will work. he acts like he knows when he does wrong because he goes to his crate when i bring him back in. he is starting to get it because 50% of the time he will whimper at the door when he has to go. other times he just lets it fly whereever he is standing. he is only 7 weeks old so i'm a little leaniant for now. my other lab was 4 months ols and like a say, only one nose job did it.

  45. I have four dogs, I've been watching your videos and I've taught them how to sit, shake hands and bark on command!! The thing is, I don't know how to supervise all of them so they don't do their business inside, and they spent most time outside because my mom won't let them in because they pee! Any suggestions? Thanks a lot x

  46. We have a 5 1/2 months old Terrier/Dauchound puppy and we have been having issues with him peeing and pooping on our floors. He has puppy mats that he goes on but will frequently go off into the other room and pee or poor behind our couch. I have literally seen him come into the room where his unused mats are and then trot into the other room and make his mess.

We have not changed his food, feeding schedule, he has no infections/parasites (just was at the vet) and the mats are in the same location that they have always been in. When he does go off of his mats and goes on the floor we always bring him back to the scene of the crime and give him a stern "No"!

This is starting to wear on us because he is doing this multiple times a week (sometimes multiple times a day) and we have my 2 year old daughter almost stepping in or trying to touch these messes.  I am at a loss for what to do because this happens both when we are and aren't at home.

Unfortunately when we first adopted him from the shelter he not only round worms but also tested positive for a couple of protozoa infections. We were advised by his vet to not take him outside until this cleared up. In an ideal world he would have been healthy from the get go and I would have started with training him to go outside.

  47. Six month old Dalmatian asks to go out and goes .  But in 3 minutes asks to go out again, she doesn't go but likes to eat acorns, sticks and goes out just for that reason.  How do you stop that behavior because I take her out constantly and the one time I don't she will go in the house.
