  1. Stupidest fucking thing I ever heard.

  2. What I did was I just yelped so high pitched-ly and loudly he got scared of biting me because I sounded like a dog. They don´t understand "Ouch": And you have to be really persistant with them. And I abandoned him in a room for a while when he bit me. He eventually understood. Of course, he still has the reflex but he´s getting there.

  13. this lady is giving a horrible training tip. when puppies become too aggressive at feeding or other activities with their mother, the mother immediately reprimands the pup. i do the same, this applies to fingers, pant legs, ankles, bare feet. you don't hurt the pup, but you assertively nab it's attention. it doesn't take long, and much quicker does the pup become all licks. I would agree with an audible association of "Ow!" or "Ouch!" (again, assertively) your dog is very intelligent and will learn.

  15. We got our puppy at 6 wks old – a neighbour's dog had a litter and they were moving, so they gave one of the puppies to us. He's very frisky and likes to chase feet and pant legs and run around, but when he's calm and playful, he's the sweetest puppy ever. Any tips for training a puppy that's been removed from his mother early? I understand that it's a big no-no, but it does happen, and we need that kind of information as well.

  23. My puppy is slowly stopping the ankle grab with growling. But he is still doing a jump launch and snaps up to where you are. I don't know how to stop him from that and just leaving him he will start messing with the cats or his toys. So time outs aren't really happening. Oh and yelping ouch never stopped him, I had to sternly say no to startle him to stop. Like I said he still jump snaps at me, has drawn blood. He still has two more provo shots so I can't socialize him yet. Least of all have kids around when he things biting is okay.

  26. I've seen the "Ouch" technique put forward a lot, but it doesn't seem to work.  Doesn't appear that the puppy associates the bite with the cessation of play.  Since it happens mostly when they're most amped up, they quite happily entertain themselves in your absence.  It's also not possible to start shouting Ouch at 3am when he's being taken outside to pee, lest the entire house be woken up.  It also seems that after many repetitions, he just seems to have gotten used to it and ignores it.

  36. Its natural for a dog to want to use its mouth when it plays.. Just observe two dogs who are plying together, they tumble all over the place and "bite" each other. If one of them bites too hard, the other one yelps and walks off leaving the other one wondering why the play has stopped. Gradually the dog will begin to understand that it can use its mouth to play but will learn how hard or not hard he can "bite". I think expecting a dog to never use its mouth while playing is not right as it goes against their nature. I have always used this form of training with my dogs, while playing with them allowing them to use their mouth but letting them know when they have crossed the boundary and it has ensured that my dogs know what being gentle is, and they are really lovely, gentle and well mannered dogs. This also helps in teaching them that they cannot snatch food from your hand, as they will have understood that when making contact with you with their mouth, they need to be gentle. So really, this form of training is great as it fans out in all other aspects of the training of your dog 🙂

  43. I have never heard of using this method before! There are much better videos out there that work….I agree this "method" is not really teaching the dogs not to bite, especially when you're encouraging the biting! Don't know where she got this nonsense from.
