The trick ‘Sit Pretty’ is one of my favorite routines to educate canine. It is not only an lovable trick, but it has quite a few benefits that make it a need to to teach. Training ‘Sit Pretty’ boosts your dog’s harmony and entire body recognition. It also builds your canine core muscles which secure the backbone from injuries for the duration of dog sports activities or actively playing fetch. ‘Sit Pretty’ is a trick for wholesome canine. If your dog has pre-current accidents, seek advice from a bodily therapist to inquire if this trick is safe and sound for your particular dog.

Most canine do not have the muscles to be ready to sit quite without the need of aid, and it can consider two months to about a month to establish the muscles. To do this you can apply small classes of ‘Sit Pretty’ day by day till your dog builds up the harmony and strength to hold the posture.

  6. P.S. Emily–you are a woman after my own heart. I too, have rescue 4 dogs, and they are a somewhat similar assortment to yours: a border collie, and aussie, a terrier mix, and a Havanese/terrier mix. Thanks for all the excellent positive training info!

  7. Is it okay to do this trick with "lowrider" dogs? (I have a Havanese mix who is nearly as long and low and a dachshund, though not quite.)

  19. Still working on the balance portion…he sometimes wraps his arms around my arm for stability. Is this something I should try to curb? I don't want him to think that's part of the trick.
