  1. this is the way i train my dogs and it has worked everytime. If they are starting to wander off or not pay attention. It is a good way to get them to pay more attention.

  2. I adopted a 4 yr old chihuahua 3 weeks ago who was terribly pulling ahead of me on walks. I switched from a collar to a harness (to protect his trachea) and used your training technique and within 3 days my dog now stays beside me. I feel the method was gentle but also clear for him. I so recommend this approach to others!

  4. What if the dog is large an powerful ? My dogs determined to go where he wants . If I don't let him go in a direction he would bow and pull.

  5. What kind of collar or harness will this method work with?

  6. Ah, it's not work… your dog already has intelligent and know how to use that. Better get stubborn dog then you will show me how to pulling a lease. my dog is very stubborn…. 😐

  7. DOES THIS WORK WITH PITBULLS?

  8. What if dog won't change direction. The pulling is on way home so she has no interest in changing direction. Also when leash slackened dog starts pulling again or sniffing ground"'!!!

  9. that works unless you have a highly intelligent, highly stubborn dog cause you'll be standing there all the livelong day.

  11. I set up a youtube sign-in JUST so that I could thank you. I have a 70lb Doberman who we rescued from a VERY abusive family. She has no confidence except when she is walking, and ends up having too much confidence then. She would tug, pull, lunge, not listen. I ended up with a shoulder injury, blisters on my hands and fingers from trying to keep her under control. We had choke chains, spray bottles, everything. Within 2 walks using your technique she is walking PERFECTLY! Thank you so much!

  14. This technique is actually positive punishment not negative reinforcement. He is adding something (leash pop) to get less of a behavior ( dog pulling). It works well though, another helpful point when using this is to also only move backwards and to the right 90 degree turns if the dog is heeling on the left side.

  15. And if the dog does, he'd stop pulling, and look to see where you are- and go back to your side if this is how you'll do it. Eventually he won't pull at all when it all clicks.

  16. Then put your hand through the loop- so it's attached to you…

  17. That's animal abuse you guys shouldn't own dogs if your family is just going to beat it.

  22. Thank you so much for these videos!!! I'm 14 years old and my mom got me a dog, but decides not to help me with ANYTHING. My family's idea of training dogs is hitting. And it makes me really sad when my dog makes a mistake and my sister seems to beat the crap out of him. These videos just gave me a huge smile(: THANKS!

  23. @Nitah89 i think its because it creates a small tug which lets the dog know he's made a mistake

  24. I've literally dragged him across a slippery floor while he faces me and puts all 4 paws in front of him.

you would see him pullig the hell out of it .. I totally agree with you – he's standing there with a dog that doesnt pull at all and tells me if he WOULD pull me i WOULD. My dog pulls i turn around and it keeps pulling – HELOO!?! – thats the firs reaction that you get when your dog has no idea what to do .. be real pls!

when you apply tension the dog feel tens and not relaxed then he realises once the lead is un tence he relaxes and so do you so he knows that if he dosnt want to feel your tension he must walk by your side or behind you but not in front 🙂

  33. I have had a 4 month old Australian Kelpie / Labrador cross for about 2 weeks. He is a very intelligent young dog and has already learned how to sit and stay. However, he pulls on the leash something terrible when walking. After watching this video today, I took him for a 30 minute walk and applied this method whenever he pulled. After about 20 minutes he was walking nicely on a loose leash! I'm amazed at his quick progress. After a few more walks I think he will be just great on the leash.

  34. I tried that today with my puppy and it worked. Thank you so much! She's had lots of trainers and none has been able to teach her to walk on a leash. She can do every trick in the book but basic manners evade her lol.

I was curious what kind of collar you have on this dog. Is it a choke collar? I use a premier harness that attaches on the front so she has more of a challenge pulling forward. It worked with that harness. She flipped around but it didn't hurt her just let her know I'm there.

  36. I recently adopted a 1-1/2 y.o. Boxer Beagle that is extremely smart. However, I have been having problems with him pulling while on walks. I saw this video and thought I would give this method a try. (Tried other methods that did not work.) Within 5 minutes my dog understood what was expected of him and we finished a nice walk with a very loose leash.

  41. God, it works!!!! after a week of suffering with my pulling new doberman/terrier mix of 8 months (it's a really strong dog) she totally understood after 10 minutes of going nowhere, to one side and the other. Of course is not perfect, it will take a while for her to make it perfect but for being the first day, WOW nothing had worked out with my dogs for years, and now this is working, thank you SO MUCH for this video, you are great!!!!

My GOODNESS MAN!!! This really works man!!! I walked with my dog today & did everything in the video..10 minutes of walking made a REAL DIFFERENCE! My dog is about 1/2 way to not pulling now, a few more days or even a week I should have no pulling at all!

ME SO HAPPY! YES YES YA"LL!!

  44. I also wanted to say i have been doing the "Dog pulls, You stop till there's slack" method for 2 weeks…My dog is getting alittle bit better at paying attention to me but she still runs ahead & pulls when i take 1 single step forward LITERALLY!

I'll try your method for a week & see if there's any difference at all.

  45. "Now My dog is going 1 way, I'm going the other way. The dog is going to hit the end of the leash with the correction but now he's 6 feet away from me, by the time he turns around all he sees is me walking away"

I'm sorry..that part in the video is just funny to me for some reason!! Dog would be like.."wha the fork? where he going?"
