  2. what I think helps the most if you can catch them in the act then you can tell them NO and go outside with them.O yea if your dog is chewing things up to me that means he needs more attention(a dog will reather be scolded then get no attention at all)just teaching him to do tricks like sit, laydown, stay,or any other tricks can really help.you will be surprise on how much that can calm them down and make them sleepy.if you cant give him all your spare time then you need to find some one who can.

  3. I even set my alarm every three hours and got up and walked him it sucked but it was worth it.some dogs can take up to a year to be really trusted to last all night(some dogs) mine is 5 months now and he can last all night easy.you might want to get him a cage for while you r at work .I dont think a dog should be left on a chain but I did chain him up while I was at work intill he was house trained.

  4. I have a germen sheperd I house train him in one month.what I did is I didnt wait till he had to go but instead I took him out every two hours you might be able to go longer then that depending on your dog.but mine was only five weeks old when I got him. but the point is to take him out before he go's.and you cant just put him out you got to go out with him or he will just sit watching the door.but every time he go"s pee or poop outside you need to praise him like crazy and tell him good boy.

  5. This breed lives for the job! They were bred to work. they are the true herding dog. It sounds like he is bored out of his mind. If there isn't a Herding Facility near you then you should teach him agility or freestyle frisbee. freestyle frisbee is soooo cool. These dogs need Constant excersize and work. I walk my blue heeler twice a day and then after that play and train him in the yard for 2 hours and still has energy. And he's only 8 weeks.

  6. @CowgirlHC I got Ziggy when he was a puppy for my Ex. She wanted him and knew a lot about them but I had to keep him at my place until she graduated. She broke up with me and I was stuck with Ziggy (Not that it's a bad thing).

  7. I actually have him on the Benfield vet-plan at Petsmart and have been debating investing the money to have him trained there as well.

I don't use dog-treats anymore to reward him. I still have raw-hides and stuff to give him randomly but stopped the whole treat thing after the first 4 months because I was going through them so fast. I have bad self-control when it comes to that.

I appreciate your in-depth comments BTW. Thank you very much

  8. So your saying that when he potties in the house I should be positive towards him? My main concern is just getting him to hold it. Should I maybe tell him Good Boy when he goes to the door so he is aware that I know he wants to go out and can try to hold it.

  9. I do keep him in the kennel. Anytime I let him out I keep an eye on him. He has so much energy built up from being locked up all the time though. I also give him a raw-hide about 2 times a day when I put him in the kennel or even out of the kennel.

  10. Keep him in the kennel unless you are playing with him, feeding him and so forth. Kennel training is the only way he'll learn. He is bored as well. He needs chewing stuff. Lots of bones.
