  3. near worthless video, they need to show the video in segments – of an untrained dog and teaching him OVER TIME until the dog gets it.

Seeing how they train an already trained dog is worthless.

  4. @nicolenadia1 I do several training sessions with my dogs every single day, and they are both very slim and nice. Using treats in training doesn't mean you get a fat dog. If you teach the dog bite inhibition from an early age it will always take treats gently, and you will never be at risk of losing a finger. Btw, you don't need to teach the dog respect to get it do obey you. You just need to teach it what you want it to do.

Oh yeah, you're so right. Let's keep smacking our dogs around whenever they do something wrong. Let's do the mythical and idiotic 'alpha roll' on them whenever they disobey, say 'no' all the time. That would gaurantee you a dog who lives a daily hell, and though it might obey you, it would hate your gutts and snap whenever you're not around.

  8. I think teaching a dog not to pull and teaching a dog to heel are very different things.

  9. anything that sees one talking like and idiot and acting other than himself to please a being that DOESN'T EVEN TALK is a waste of voice.

  10. it's good and well to shit on 3rdwaytrainer's principles, but he or she's got a GREAT point: rewarding your dog to follow you around is a waste of time and energy. you've got to inpire your dog to follow you around, and that is a behavior one cannot teach. EVERY dog is able to follow its owner within 2 seconds of meeting, it's just that they don't wanna.

rewarding a dog to do something it doesn't wanna do is no way to earn respect, and it's not safe, either.
