  2. our beagle is a huge snuggler – she prefers it all day every day. also she barely bays/vocalizes unless she's running around.

  4. Not only are beagles NOT quiet, extremely smart and dog/people social, they are EXCELLENT, loving members of a family. If you want a 'quiet' dog DON'T get one, if you want to jog/run with a dog, DON'T get one. Beagles are scent hounds and their nose and attention is ground focused. They will follow their nose with no care of other things going on around. They are NOT SAFE running loose. If you plan on a 'city' hound you should be prepared to keep that hound safe in a fully adequate fenced area.

  6. i have a very young (About 4 months) Beagle Terrier mix and she is nothing BUT love and affection and innocent. She learned Sit, Stay, and lay all in one day but that was when my wife and I were all so excited and having fun. Beagles are very stubborn, my god she is stubborn but my love for dogs does not stop because she's stubborn. They Learn very well when encouraged with treats just like any dog but you give a beagle at hope of food she will do anything you ask. My wife walks This good dog every morning. She says she has issues. I walk her in the evening and grab a little hand full of food and she does very well. I reward her for heeling, Eliminating so the pup knows that outside is bathroom time or a nice walk. My beagle is with a very ALPHA dog a very big but in the best way I can say he is just plain dumb haha my beagle and my parents Boxer huskie mix love to play together (AS LONG AS THE BEAGLE IS EYE LEVEL HAHA) And finally beagles do not respond well to physical punishment. I know that's what every vet and dog rescuer will tell you. But ITS TRUE Rewarding for good rather than physical punishment is better. They are stubborn but they want that food. So theyll go for food rather than not.

  7. I have grown to hate my Beagle, I rescued him from owner who were bashing him then didnt want him any more, i have spent many many hours trying to train him but he doesn't learn, taking him for walks ends in misery every time he is the most stubborn dog i have ever seen. He is still with me & i wont give up but i do not feel any love when i look at him

  18. Yeah I think some breeds tend to be one person dogs. Poms are like that too I think.

  19. My beagle was all about people. He used to think he was a lap dog. I remember my mother-in-law, when Decker had climbed on the sofa and sat on her lap facing away "He looks like he wants to tell me something"
He was very affectionate and loved to sit (and sleep when I would allow it), right next to me.
He also loved to chase the tennis ball and to go for 4-mile walks with me.
I miss that little dog. Fortunately, there are lots of beagles on the strand being walked.

  20. Getting your beagle to cuddle with you is simple. Just have an important task you need to do
within the next half hour and your beagle will be more than happy to inconvenience you. 🙂

  30. Your welcome to view videos of my beagle, to show how a well trained beagle should repond when given a command, out in public, and even off leash. Also, I'd like to add that my beagle is a super cuddler. He always wants to get petted, and is always rubbing up against someone in my family to cuddle. As far as barking/ beying goes, beagles can be trained to stop on command. They'ar great little alert dogs with a big voice, who will tell you if they hear something out of place during the night too.

  40. @DaytonaRoadster I pretty much have the same thing. He hates the water. Runs off scared in sits in a corner or tries to hide. However, I have found it very hard for him to pay attention and walking. Obviously I know that we are generally not aloud to let beagles off their leash.

  41. @killakev0491 Nah I doubt he's retarded lol. He might have anxiety issues. I've dealt with alot of beagles and most have had anxiety issues. You just have to train him.

  43. this is typical of expertvillage, completely wrong on just about everything. Just like their aqaurium vids. I cant keep my beagle out of my lap, they are very loving and cuddling, they are lazy they sleep all the time. They also generaly hate water, they do tend to howl, but that depends on the dog, i have two beagle, niether howl very often. They are STUBBORN however
