  7. Omg I haven't and can't bring myself to listen to this shit all the way to the end . I am a balanced trainer positive doesn't work with naughty aggressive dogs . Victoria killed a dog because she didn't have a clue what to do . I have a rescue that is still work in progress she bit kids bit people and rehomed 8 times in her 1st yr she has been with me 2 yrs now and she is amazing loving dog but still has is in her but I am her leader and she knows her boundaries. Yes Victoria yet again I ask you to a challenge. Stop filling people's head with crap . You wasn't even a trainer but a failed actor when you started you didn't even have a dog or ever owned a dog . And stop stop stop saying they have the same brain as humans they are dogs for god sake . I beg you to what on here what is wrong with positive training part 2 . Dogs do pin each other I have 5 dogs in my pack and they do it . I really can't believe what I am listening to theses pair of total tits .

  8. Ignore the problem and reward the exceptions gives you a bratty dog that sits. Granted, negative punishment only works on certain behaviors with certain dogs. But go ahead, wave a cookie in a red zone dogs face until it likes you. I like to call a good trainer a shepherd with just simply telling the dog yes or no. A well balanced form of training fits for the dog is what works. I've spent far to much time with bratty dogs that don't know what no means and fearful dogs that crouch when you say good.

  11. I can't believe there are so many users in the comments not agreeing with this video…. Like why wouldn't you want your dog to be guided rather than told. This isn't to say you can't tell your dog what not to do through being guided, you can, it's just in a way that allows the dog to think for themselves and know that in certain situations different behaviors are accepted.
"When a dog growls i say sorry" so do i – because I've made the dog feel insecure and uncomfortable and that means you have to take a step back and approach the situation differently in a way that lets the dog understand its okay.
People really need to get their head out of this mindset you must control your dog through TELLING them what to and start TEACHING them what to do.

  15. I would love to see those two ladies deal with a Malamute, a Husky, a Chow Chow, a Shar Pei, an Akita, a Shiba, a Cane Corso, a Dogo Argentino, a Presa Canario, a Boerboel, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a Komondor and a Kangal with cookies and ignoring the bad behaviour!…
Let's see these two women dealing with a Pitbull type that has one thing in its mind, hunting and killing a smaller dog or a cat!… I know Stilwell would simply tell the owner to kill the dog over the phone!…
These women are a menace to the safety of the community!…
I agree you should not punish your dog for growling since it is a way to express its discomfort but apologizing?!… Seriously?!… How about just walking away and ignoring?!…
They are not dog behaviourists, they are dog trainers… They should stick to what they know best and help people train their puppies…
My personal belief is you must adjust your training on the breed and the temperament of your dog… And there ARE breeds that need a firmer hand to make them safe to society…
Disciplining a dog doesn't mean beating it up!… It means letting your dog know that the behaviour is unacceptable. We do the same thing with children!…
Funny how, since positive only and ignoring bad behaviour, is popular so many people end up at the hospitals for severe bites and attacks… That's what happen when you humanise your dogs!…

  16. This actually infuriates me. Without mentioning him by name, they basically said that Cesar should be arrested for animal abuse. Cesar has rehabilitated and thus saved thousands of dogs lives – including dogs from the Yulin meat markets. How many dogs have these women saved? I know of at least one aggressive spaniel who was euthanized instead of rehabilitated and re-homed because of Victoria on national television. So why does Cesar have such a great success record? Because he uses other dogs in helping him rehabilitate – he uses pack mentality, energy and balanced training. Yes, this includes both positive reinforcement and "negative consequences" such as a touch to the side and a "tsst!" noise or a quick correction of the leash (which I have also seen Victoria do.) If these women had even bothered to read his books, they would see that he does NOT take the decision to use prong collars, E-collars and other tools lightly. In fact, he only uses e-collars in extreme cases (for example, he used one on a dog who liked to chase heavy machine equipment on a farm. The dog had almost died several times.) In his show, he has in fact taken prong collars off numerous times and opted for the the slip lead on both rotties and pitbulls. I have never seen him use halty leashes or head collars that Victoria has used to control high energy dogs. Within a matter of minutes, he has the dog walking behind him calmly with one finger on the leash. He does this with energy, not with contraptions. This is why they called him the dog whisperer. He has a much better organic relationship with domestic dogs, and understands them far better than anyone else I've seen on television. He has said on numerous occasions that his methods are not the only way to work with dogs either. I believe his methods work because he does not humanize them, and speaks to them in a way they understand.

  18. I really can't take Victoria Stilwell seriously. All the positive only trainers seem to do is hate and bully anyonewho has a different view. Hate speak, propaganda, playing to peoples emotion, intolerence and nacassism. That is also how Adolf Hilter convinced the German people to gas anyone they didn't agree with. Dogs do need to be rewarded for the correct behaviour but they also need to be corrected for the wrong behaviour. A correction is not beating, having a heavy hand or hurting the dog. It can simply be a vocal correction or correction on the leash. Many people may not know that Victoria Stillwell was sued for fraud by the TV company that made the show because she lied about having dog training expereince and in fact had never owned a dog. She lost. The Positive only trainers are like an extreme cult. Lets hope they drink the Koolaid and die and l leave the many good trainers who have different approaches alone. The crazy woman should stick to cats.

  22. This woman is the worst thing that ever happened to dog training. If only there were a serious positive trainer (or rather, a balanced trainer, not purely positive) who managed to get half the air-time and publicity that she does, it would be a much more effective message for less violent and traumatic training methods.

  24. Positive reinforcement only works for positive behaviour. It doesn't signfy that negative behaviour is not acceptable. For stubborn, disobedient dogs such as mine, I found that negative reinforcement worked very effectively alongside positive reinforcement. The idea is to be adaptive and find a balance between both. However the positive reinforcement should be the primary focus.

  27. This woman is a menace and a hack.

She deceives the ignorant with the notion that aversives have no place in training, despite the fact that they are absolutely necessary to counter self rewarding behaviors that have higher value to a dog than any amount of treats or praise you could lavish it with for a reward.

Positive reinforcement has a place in training, and it's right alongside positive punishment, negative reinforcement, and negative punishment.

Don't believe me? Then take it up with B.F. Skinner, not this incompetent and negligent hack.
